Ken York is an international cigar writer. He was the unofficial travel correspondent for Cigar Magazine, which is now defunct (not his fault). His friends refer to him as the Dos Equis guy due to his wide range of experiences: Army, Air Force (with a week on an aircraft carrier too), linguist, reporter, actor, author, and he even has a bug named for him: Isoneuromyia yorki Evenhuis, a Vietnames predatory fungus gnat. He prefers medium-bodied cigar with a nice single-malt highlands scotch.

Padron 1964 Imperial Maduro

by Ken York November 8, 2013

Padron 1964 Imperial Maduro BnB Price: About $15 a stick Review by Ken York I love a box pressed cigar, not sure why, but I do. But that’s what cigar selection is about – what is it that makes you enjoy one cigar over another.  Padron has been making cigars since 1964 and this cigar [...]

Arturo Fuente Hemingway Signature

by Ken York November 8, 2013

Arturo Fuente Hemingway Signature BnB Price: About $7 a stick Review by Ken York The Arturo Fuente Hemingway Signature is a great smoke. It’s also fun because it’s a Figurado, which has a pointy foot (the part you light) and a rounded head. And yes, I have seen a person lighting and smoking from the [...]

Cult Fuerte Torpedo – A Review By Ken York

by Ken York October 7, 2013

I didn’t get it. I don’t know why, but my Cult Fuerte was anything but. Fuerte is Spanish for strong or vigorous. My Cult Fuerte wasn’t. It’s touted as a full-bodied cigar with a well-balanced assertive flavor profile. After all, it has an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, Ometepe Nicaraguan binder, and Jalapa, Nicaraguan filler. The one [...]

Alex Bradley Nica Puro Robusto – A Review By Ken York

by Ken York September 4, 2013

This is a full-bodied manly cigar. It feels impressive, it looks impressive, and it tastes impressive. It’s Nicaraguan through and through – wrapper, filler, and binder, so you know there is going to be some real strength there. It has a dark Nicaraguan Habano wrapper that’s a dark brown in color. The construction is solid, [...]

Punch Rare Corojo El Doble Single Review by Ken York

by Ken York July 29, 2013

I’m not a big fan of Punch cigars – not sure why – I’m just not. The exception is their rare corojo. When you look at a Ferrari, you know it’s meant to go fast and give you pleasure. I’m seeing Punch’s rare corojo in the same category. To begin with it’s sitting there in [...]

GAR Opium STK Review – Overall Score 78 out of 100

by Ken York July 24, 2013

I was looking forward to this cigar. It’s a limited edition cigar from George Rico and Gran Habano under the STK series. Only a thousand boxes made. For whatever reason, it just didn’t do much at all for me, although I enjoyed the second half much more than the first. I’m not the guy who [...]

Diamond Crown No. 7 Maduro Review – Ken York

by Ken York June 30, 2013

The Diamond Crown No. 7 Maduro is a great cigar that would go well while relaxing with friends. It is not harsh or over-bearing. The maduro wrapper conjured images of the Caribbean, Calypso bands, and that really tall guy who played Baron Samedi, the witch doctor, in the 007 movie ‘Live and Let Die.’ As [...]
