Everybody knows me. I'm a pipe smoker since 1965. My tastebuds tend to shy away from sweets, unless the source is usually fruit or produce.
The custom blend of my own taste includes Turkish cigarette tobacco, most of the time Top is used. This time, Cherokee Bold Turkish was in place of Top, as pricewise, it is more economical.
The ribbon cut burns rapidly, similar to European pipe blends. The flavor has a good and somewhat bold flavor, but just falls short of the mark to my usual blend expectations. Speaking for myself, as I use this in pipe mixture blending, a wider cut, not by much, would bring out more of a nicer taste, and I understand Business, dollars and cents, as the Virginia is a bit high, and the Turkish could do with just a tad more.
Overall, I am very pleased with the Cherokee Bold Turkish tobacco. I rate it at 4-stars, and considering the price in today's economy, it offers a lot of bang for my buck.
Oriental/English blend smokers may want to know how I actually blend it. Real easy. Equal parts of a good bold Turkish, dark burley or Velvet, and Walnut as it is a nice and very traditional blend. Take the three equal parts then sprinkle McClelland or other Latakia. It's a taste choice. In fact, the entire blend is very servicable to your pipe smoking taste.
This blend wakes me up in the morning, clears my head, and in the evening I use it as a "nightcap".
Cherokee Bold Turkish Blend is a remarkable and pleasant surprise as it is much better than I imagined. I gave up cigarettes years ago, but Camels in days of old, used this type of tobacco and had a sparce sprinkling of Latakia fines. Oldtimers will recall that flavor at once. It was like the scent of saltwater or ocean.
Today, tastebuds differ and lean towards a sweet-tooth, until they shift and change, developing into maturity. I also enjoy venison, Canada goose, calf's liver or all livers, actually. Whole fresh fruit has tremendous sweetness as does produce, to my taste. I like extra strong coffee made helmet style (I still make it), and tea extra strong, Long Island style, but got turned onto that up in Canada, and it was great. This gives you an idea of my tastes, and hopefully will help you in making your selection of tobacco.

If you are already going to pay the shipping for the more upscale products that you normally come here for then you may consider adding something that is cheap with your order. I suppose i could compare this with Bugler which is also a cheap Turkish blend. I often add a little touch of this when i am filling the pipe with Prince Albert. The PA will increase the moisture and sweetness. The Cherokee Turkish will of course add a note of Turkish flavor into the mix. I am not against the bottom shelf products. They can be used for blending such as if you want to add a touch of Turkish or a touch of menthol or what have you to your more premium product. If you are a fan of Bugler then you may like this. My use for bottom shelf products is blending. They are often not that great when they are consumed as is.
