I roll my own pipe tobacco cigars, and have just now tried this product out and I am extremely impressed. Upon opening the bag, you're greeted with a very rich chocolate/cacao bean scent. When smoked, it has a very subtle chocolate taste and the "tobacco" taste itself is extremely, extremely smooth. The aroma is fantastic - It will leave your house smelling like brownies in the oven. Combined with Platinum's "Chocolate" cigar wraps, it is quite like smoking a very rich chocolate bar. I will be buying this tobacco again, no doubt about it, I am extremely impressed with the overall quality - cut, taste, aroma.
I like Prince Albert, Half & Half and Sir Walter Raleigh, and this 'Black & Gold' is just as enjoyable. I typically change tobaccos about every other pipe load. I'm trying out several different BNB tobaccos, and all are good! Will comment on same as I progress smoking all of them
Let me start off by saying I don't smoke a pipe, I roll cigars with pipe tobacco and wraps, so my opinion may not relate exactly to the opinion of someone smoking this tobacco from a pipe. This tobacco is quite good, it has just the right amount of amaretto flavor and a very mild, smooth tobacco taste, and is quite good for rolling cigars with. The cut is a mix of smaller bits and longer cut pieces, which I like because when rolled in a cigar helps even out the burn - Tobaccos of only smaller cut pieces tend to allow the cherry to fall off unexpectedly. It combines well with both fruity and mildly flavored wraps, each combination giving a new and pleasant experience. Overall a quite good product, and I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone who rolls their own cigars.
