Taste of Fight Night

Pop Culture

Since 1990 Fight Night has been raising funds to support low-income children in the Washington DC and Baltimore area. The proceeds from the black tie gala help fund health and educational services for elementary children in need. BnB Tobacco is proud to be the cigar sponsor for the event. On September 18 BnB Tobacco provided cigars for Taste of Fight Night. This exclusive cocktail hour event was held on the rooftop observatory of The Graham Georgetown. This event gave potential sponsors a taste of the main event, to be held on November 14th, 2013.

In attendance were the B’s of BnB Tobacco and our resident cigar blogger, Ken.

Did someone say BNB? The most interesting man in the world. What a view! Doesn't get any better What a combo! Yes please

The evening’s whisky spirits were expertly paired with four premium cigars. Below are the tasting notes from the event.

Arturo Fuente Hemingway Signature

Cigar

Made from aged Dominican fillers, an aged Dominican binder and a Cameroon wrapper to create a medium to full bodied smoke. According to Paul Garmirian, this all time favorite is reminiscent of 1950’s Cubans.

Whisky

Macallan Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch, Speyside, Scotland

Nose

Hints of burnt caramel, and roasted nuts.

Taste

The cask strength has a sherried finish making it rich with complex hints of caramel, brown sugar, and toffee. This whisky is full palate and requires a cigar to complement.

Joya De Nicaragua Robusto

Cigar

A medium to full bodied dark cigar covered with a toothy, oily wrapper. Intense aromatic smoke with notes of cedar, pepper, earth and a hint of nuts.

Whisky

Glenlivet Archive 21, Glenlivet Distillery Banffshire Scotland

Nose

Notes of sandalwood and pine with a resinous note. Creeps in with barley, sugar and acacia honey.

Taste

Rich full notes of oily walnuts and spice with a sugar finish that is long and sweet with soft cherry oak.

Padron 1964 Imperial Maduro

Cigar

Creamy and rich balanced profile of nuts, pepper, earth and espresso with a hint of cocoa. An attractive oily medium brown wrapper makes for an aromatic cigar.

Whisky

Balvenie 21: finished in a Port wood cask. Distilled in Banffshire Scotland.

Nose

A perfume of fruity and ripe raisin notes backed by a nutty dryness.

Taste

Refined with remarkable character. Creamy and silky with fruit, honey and spice notes with a long and gentle nutty finish.

Alec Badley Nica Puro 1685 Robusto

Cigar

An attractive cigar with a flavorful medium bodied profile of sweet cedar, earth, and notes of pepper.

Whisky

Bushmills, Black Bush, Distilled Bushmill co. Antrim Northern Ireland

Nose

Big and full to start off with quickly becoming light with hints of spicy fruit.

Taste

Floats across your tongue to the back of your throat where it rests as a slight sherry sweetness.
