Cohiba Pequenos

Cigar Reviews Cohiba

Cohiba is one of the best known brand names in the cigar industry, but represents two different cigar manufacturers. One of them makes cigars for Habanos S.A., the Cuban tobacco company, and the other makes cigars for General Cigar Company, an American company.

The Cohiba cigars distributed through the General Cigar Company are created in the Dominican Republic. The Cohiba Pequenos, produced for the General Cigar Company, measures 4-1/5 inches (106 mm) x 36 and features a Cameroon wrapper around a Jember (Indonesian) binder and a Dominican Republic filler.

The Cohiba Pequenos has a dark, oily wrapper and a fine appearance, and even before you light up you can smell some of the aroma wafting from the cigar. The construction is very nice, though draw is a little tight at first. After the initial tightness, it doesn’t offer any further problems. The rest of the smoke features a perfectly even burn and flawless ash.

The flavor of this cigar changes a bit from beginning to end, but the backdrop is steady. To start out with you will taste dark chocolate and espresso, which form the most consistent notes throughout. There is a hint of something fruity and floral near the start which dissipates after about a half an inch. After that, the chocolaty coffee smell gets stronger and more pronounced and also a tad spicy. At the very end the flavors evaporate into a tart leather. . While there are no big surprises here, this cigar is a delectable treat offered at a good price.

The cost of the Cohiba Pequenos is about middle range, at $50 for a 30-count tin. It’s a short smoke in duration, but offers some enticing flavors and aromas, and represents a fine cigar by a reliable brand. The construction is first rate, and this is a great buy for a regular, short smoke.
