Camacho Triple Maduro Torpedo

Cigar Reviews

Camacho Triple Maduro

Camacho, established in Miami in 1961, is a part of the Oettinger Davidoff Group and through many ups and downs has become a key player in the cigar industry. They are perhaps best known for the Camacho Corojo released in 2000.

The Camacho Triple Maduro Torpedo, released in 2007, is a full bodied puro cigar which packs quite a kick. It’s not the best for the beginning smoker, but has a lot to offer a more mature smoker or any fan of full-bodied cigars. The Triple Maduro Torpedo measures 6 inches in length and has a ring gauge of 54. Each cigar costs $12.50 individually, or you can purchase a box of eighteen at a price of $10.50 each. The wrapper, binder, and filler are all Honduran.

In terms of presentation, both the cigar and the box are very elegant. The box is black with tapering sides and is topped with the silver logo of the brand, also found on the band of the cigar. The construction of the cigar is a bit rough at first glance, but the high contrast between the maduro wrapper and the silver band is quite beautiful. The draw is excellent and produces thick, full-bodied aromatic smoke. The burn is even and slow and makes for a relaxing, long smoke.

The predominant flavor in this cigar is espresso—extra dark and strong. There are also some woody notes, and a bit of chocolate and cream. The second half of the smoke features some peppery overtones, but the espresso is still at the forefront through the entire experience.

At $12.50 a stick, this isn’t the cheapest cigar, but considering how long the smoke lasts and the high quality of the experience, it’s not a bad price at all. For maduro enthusiasts who enjoy a strong smoke, the Camacho Triple Maduro Torpedo is a must try.
