Lighters For Small and Large Cigars

Once you have the finest cigars, the most efficient humidor and the perfect cutter, it's time to look into selecting the right lighter for your cigar-related needs. Many people who are new to the world of cigars are surprised to learn that the type of lighter used can have a dramatic effect on the overall smoking experience.

One of the most important things to keep in mind is that butane is always the way to go. Both cardboard matches and cheap lighters can negatively alter the taste of the smoke because of chemical additives that are anything but pleasant in flavor.

It's also key to note that an expensive lighter isn't necessarily better in quality. Today, you can find a variety of luxury lighters that come with seriously hefty price tags. However, these lighters are usually so expensive because they're made with fancy materials. They won't necessarily result in a more enjoyable smoking experience.

Another thing to keep in mind when purchasing a lighter is the size of cigar that you typically smoke. Lighters come in different sizes and flame strengths. Every lighter is best suited for a specific type of cigar.

If you're new to cigar-smoking and don't know which type of cigar you prefer yet, invest in a couple less expensive lighters of different sizes and get a feel for which style best suits your needs before investing in a lighter that's fairly pricey.

So, how do you choose which one is right for you?

Cigarillos

If you're a cigarillo fan, a butane lighter with a single flame will do the trick. Luckily for you, these lighters are usually relatively inexpensive. They're also pocket-friendly.

Small Cigars

These do best with a lighter that has either a single or double flame. The exact lighter that's right for you depends on the specific radius of your cigar.

Medium Cigars

Can be efficiently lit with a butane lighter that has a double flame. You don't need to grab the largest double flame lighter on the market to light your medium cigar properly.

Large Cigars

A triple flame lighterr is good for a large cigar. Make sure that the flames are high enough to evenly light the end.

Extra Large Cigars

For extra-large cigars, a lighter with a high quad flame is what you need.

Light That Stogie Right

Remember that when it comes to cigar lighters, size does matter. Luckily, this guide should help you pick out the perfect lighter for your cigar hobby.
